Our Story

Our founder, Louisa Asante, MBA, Enrolled Agent (EA), built her career at the intersection of business ownership, finance, and disciplined operations. She grew up around entrepreneurship — her parents owned their own businesses and modeled both hard work and generosity — and she learned early that money has to be managed before it's spent.

After earning an MBA in Finance, and later an accounting degree, Louisa went on to own and operate a retail and long-term care pharmacy, build and lease commercial real estate, and invest in residential rental property. On paper, the businesses were growing. In practice, she was fighting a cash-flow war: vendors and wholesalers expected payment twice a month, while insurance reimbursements could lag four to ten weeks. Add payroll, rent, inventory, and compliance, and a profitable business could still feel financially fragile.

She survived by getting granular — studying which payors paid fastest, which purchasing decisions protected margin, and how to negotiate better terms with more flexible vendors. It was daily leadership under pressure.

“There has to be a better way.”

One month, a wholesaler pulled payment from the business account two days early because of a public holiday — and suddenly the cash set aside for payroll was at risk. The revenue was there. The customers were there. The problem was timing. For Louisa it was deeply personal: payroll wasn't a line item, it was people who counted on that money for groceries and rent.

Looking back, she saw what had been missing — an advisor who understood the numbers deeply enough to forecast the problem, weigh the options, and help her decide before the pressure became panic. That's the advisor we set out to become.

Louisa eventually steered the retail business to profitability and sold it to a Fortune 10 company.

But one lesson stuck: she'd been so focused on keeping the business alive that she hadn't consistently funded her own retirement until the final year. That regret became part of our mission. A business should build the owner's future — not consume it.

So we built Asante Tax & Consulting to give founder-led businesses more than compliance. We integrate bookkeeping, proactive tax planning, cash-flow insight, business advisory, and owner-wealth coordination into one clear relationship — so owners can move from reactive decisions to clarity, confidence, and growth
